Ingredients
1 cup buttermilk 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 tbsp garlic powder 1 tbsp onion powder 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp salt 1 tsp black pepper 4-6 chicken pieces (e.g. drumsticks, wings, etc.) Vegetable oil, for frying
1. Start by preparing the marinade for the chicken. Mix together 1 cup of buttermilk, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 1 tbsp onion powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp black pepper in a large bowl.
2. Cut the chicken into desired pieces (e.g. drumsticks, wings, etc.) and place them in the bowl with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours.
3. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 1 tbsp onion powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp black pepper.
4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
5. Remove the chicken pieces from the marinade and shake off any excess. Dip each piece in the flour mixture, making sure to coat it evenly.
6. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom.
7. Place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown.
8. Transfer the fried chicken to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
9. Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until it is cooked through (the internal temperature should be at least 165°F/74°C).
10. While the chicken is baking, make the KFC-style seasoning by mixing together 1 tsp each of paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
11. When the chicken is done baking, sprinkle the seasoning over the top of each piece.
12. Serve the fried chicken hot, with your choice of dipping sauces or sides. Enjoy!
