1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
6 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the brown sugar, flour, and salt until smooth.
Gradually whisk in the milk until combined. In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks.
Slowly whisk the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks until combined.
Pour the pudding mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the pudding into individual serving dishes or a serving bowl.
Let cool completely before serving.
